I had the latest update to Android 8.1 (Oreo) for my phone pop up yesterday, as it has only been released for J5 and J7 pro range.

950 megs download and about 15 minutes worth of installation time, so eat your %$#^#@$ hearts out Oppo.

Usual bling type changes, a good selection of clocks for the lock screen, etc.

Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro SM-J530G Oreo Update 8.1 Official Firmware Other improvements

Video player includes auto repeat and 2x speed option.
Voice Recorder provides smart tips to conveniently block calls while recording.
Email lets you flag Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync emails.
Samsung Health’s new sticky notification lets you see your step count at a glance.
The clock now includes a Landscape mode and timer sound options.
The digital clock widget goes directly to the Clock app when you tap it.
Samsung Pass added the ability to manage usernames and passwords in third-party apps.
Samsung Dual Messenger

Find My Mobile

Back up Secure Folder to Samsung Cloud remotely when your phone is lost.
Lock Samsung Pass using Find My Mobile.

I don't have the phone but I like the Samsung Tablets. I have two Galaxy Tab E 9.6" tablets with Android 7.1. Got a nasty email from them the other day saying if I didn't start using their Cloud Service, they were going to close my account and delete my files. I says go ahead. I never used it anyway. I have my own private cloud server with 10 Tb of space.:p

I have a Galaxy Tab 2, which does not get any more use. I cannot get any more updates for it so it's stuck on Kit Kat.

It was either Drop Box or M$ One Drive that is goung to delete my account, I use Google Drive for the few bit and pieces that I share with family and friend

I got the latest android 9 (Pie) update for the Samsung J5 Pro yesterday arvo.

A few new bits and pieces installed, some features have been removed, some have changed position.

The download was around 1 gig in size, and took around 15 minutes to download and install in total ( eat ya %$#@&^% heart out Microsoft 10).

I finally changed cell services and bought a Motorola Moto E5 Play. It still has Android 8 but I'm happy with it. My dear friend Lady Whisper said I needed a smart phone so she could send me pictures. As if she hasn't filled up a 1Tb hard drive with her photo's and graphics now she wants to clutter my phone. What's an old jester to do. He does love her dearly.;)

You should get the upgrade for the Moto sometime mate.

The Moto E5 Play is not on the list for upgrade. It doesn't matter to me. As cheap as the phone was I could just upgrade the phone and slip my sim card in it. Maybe when I wear the new off of this phone. As long as the service provider supplies security updates I'm happy. :)

I was quite happy with Oreo as I did not think I would get another update to Pie.

That pos Oppo is still on Lollipop as they did not do the upgrade on the f1, just released a new phone called f1s with Marshmallow on it which has never been updated either.
Aye Arctos, the service providers would rather sell you another phone than update them. Lady Whisper gave me a smart phone that she thought would work for me. I think it had kit kat on it or something or other. Needless to say, none of the service providers worked with it so I use it as a media player. I took the sim card out of it and play mp3s and audio books on it. Was cheaper that buying an mp3 player and has wifi and bluetooth to boot.

This is one of the reasons I buy unlocked phones independent of the telcos, I can then put in a sim of my choice of telcos. I use a company called Aldi which is a major supermarket chain here in Aus. they are big in Europe as well.

It cost me $15.00 a month with unlimited calls and texts, international call are not free though. Also I get 3 gig of data which any unused part gets rolled over till the next month. Got nearly 10 gigs rolled over so far.

I have done this with the Oppo, as the sim from the Oppo went into the Samsung.
